Craft Beer Co, Brighton – A Gem

Image

Opened a few weeks ago in Upper North Street, Brighton on the site of The Florist pub and taking the award winning formula of its sister bar in London (voted 4th best bar in the world by http://www.ratebeer.com) The Craft Beer Co Brighton was always going to have a lot to live up to.

Offering a range of 9 cask & 21 keg beers plus a menu of bottled beers covering 22 pages alongside some fine spirits & soft drinks this is one bar I’m pleased to say that lives up to the hype.

The beer list is ever changing and offers many UK breweries which stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the finest breweries in the world & includes, from the UK – Darkstar, Magic Rock Brewery, Summer  Wine Brewery, Fyne Ales, Camden Brewery, Thornbridge & from the rest of the world – Mikkeller, Evil Twin & Southern Tier to name but a few.

Food wise the list is not a full pub menu but with the lure of hand raised pork pies, handmade Scottch Eggs & now cheese boards there is enough on offer to keep you from wandering elsewhere & when the beer selection is this good why would you want too?

The atmosphere is lively without being rowdy, even on their launch night when the place was rammed. Most of the staff it would appear were bought from the now defunct Cask Pub & Kitchen on Middle Street & are knowledgeable about their beers & happy to guide the less experienced drinker to trying something they may not have had before. The inside is about the same size as the old Cask but there is a lot more seating & the whole place has a bar rather than pub feel. There is however no outside seating which I know the smokers will miss

I’m not going to go in to detail about the many fantastic beers we tried over the opening weekend, that’s for another time & as they will almost certainly be different each visit for me half of the fun is trying an ever changing range of the worlds finest.

So to conclude, if you want to try some of the worlds finest beers served in comfortable surroundings by people who know what they are doing the Craft Beer Co Brighton is amongst the best.

What are you waiting for? Get yourself down there this weekend.

Cheers

The Plan

Well I’ve been threatening to do this for a while & now I’ve finally got round to doing it so here I am!

My plan is to bring you my take on the best in real beer & food from my little world & beyond. Simple.

You may not always agree with me but I’ll be truthful & fair to those i am reviewing. If its good I’ll tell you, if it’s not then I’ll not hide that from you either.

So who am I? Well I’m a 40 year old beer & food lover who enjoys trying new things. I’m based in the UK just outside Brighton, East Sussex so a lot of the places I talk about will be based in the South East of England but I also have a taste for world craft beer. I love mountain biking as well so you may well find some of my reviews follow a day in the saddle!

That’s it for now but keep checking back for regular reviews.
